Emergency Services Committee Meeting Minutes
November 17, 2007

Attendees:  Dennis Scott, Carol Rawle, Monte Beaver, Doris Noard, John Noard, John Sanders, Ronnie Mack, Val Allred, Rick Kinder, Joan Beaumont, Bob Scott, Ann Scott, Tony Riley, Betty Withington, Ed Hockett, Steve Smith, Sheryl Smith

Old Business

The Welcome Package which was available at the Annual POA meeting is now on the SFTR Web Page.  Thanks to Nancy Allred for all of her hard work.

New Business

A radio was purchased from Eddie Geiske through the Fisher’s Peak Fire Protection District Auxiliary.  This will allow the chair person or designate to monitor during an emergency incident.  John Sanders also advised of a means of monitoring via scandenver.net.  This allows the monitoring of Las Animas county 911 dispatch.

Ed Hockett will serve as the liaison with the Fisher’s Peak Fire Protection District.

The team had a brainstorm session to determine the goals and scope for the committee for 2008.

Continue the following activities:

• Distribute vehicle decals
• Monitor areas for new people/buildings (utilize for CWPP updates)
• Hotline/Web page updates
• Smoke Spotters (recruit and train) and Red Flag notifications (determine responsibility)
• Serve as liaison with emergency agencies, as needed

New activities:

• Revaluate how to utilize the ESC link on the SFTR web page
• Revaluate the ESC Handbook & division of areas
• Evaluate means of area communication via area call plans and cross ranch area backups
• Determine effective communication plan of ESC handbook and evacuation recommendations
• Investigate Reverse 911 (John Sanders to make initial inquiries)
• Liaison with the Fire Wise Action Group (determine responsibility)
• Maintain CWPP (Tony Riley to serve as information/data source)
• Review and determine plan to implement CWPP recommendations
• Evaluate possibility of low power FM radio station (John Sanders to make initial inquiries)
• Evaluate the establishment of a SPOC source of private ranch equipment for possible use in an emergency
• Evaluate committee name and mission statement based on goals/scope

The committee agreed to review the action items and determine which areas they would like to serve.  They will provide email name recommendations to Sheryl via email.  The next meeting will be early 2008.
