Communications Committee
Report to the SFTR Board of Directors
August 2001
Submitted by Carol Rawle
Since the last board meeting in June, the Communications Committee has met twice. The ranch bulletin board was a source of concern, since it had deteriorated and was in need of repairs. Harriet Vaugeois secured approval from the Beautification Sub-Committee of the Road committee to make the needed repairs. Subsequently, Peg Obrey undertook to make the repairs. The result is the bulletin board is now reinforced with metal Pro-Panel on the railroad track side to withstand the weather, and a new cork surface has been installed. Great job Peggy!
A new feature to the web site was approved and implemented. Carolyn Johnson will have a new page on the site for posting regular minutes of the Fisher's Peak Fire District meetings, which are held twice monthly.
Bill Wenstrom has received requests to enter the Metro District's financials on the web site. Since approval for this has to come from the Metro Board, Bill said he would pursue this.
Bill Wenstrom has also written a letter to be sent to sixteen property owners with thistle problems on their property that have not been addressed. The committee approved the sending of the letter by U.S. Mail.
Joyce brought up an idea for a Photo Album on the web site for property owners to submit photos of interest. The idea will be developed at future meetings.
The committee had the opportunity to meet in person with Patrick Roehl, the SFTR web manager. The meeting was a combo lunch to honor Pat's efforts and to conduct committee business. Two main themes emerged, one being that it is possible for Pat to be able to identify anyone posting information on the web site Calendar of Events and also the Forum. The other one was that, since security on the site is minimal, it is strongly urged that all property owners make the small effort to select a personal password rather that to continue to use the random password that the web manager issues.
