June 16, 2001 POA Board Meeting
Since the last Board meeting, the Emergency Services Committee has coordinated area meetings to discuss the Santa Fe Trail Ranch Emergency Plan. At the meetings, the Area Leaders and back-ups and residents had an opportunity to discuss the Plan and become familiar with the communication process that will be followed in the event of an emergency.
The "mock" evacuation to test the Plan was originally planned for the month of May but was postponed due to other Ranch events such as weed spraying. It is now the intention of the Committee to conduct this exercise later this summer.
A meeting was held on Saturday, June 2nd to discuss improvements to the Neighborhood Watch program. Captain Jim Casias of the Las Animas County Sheriff’s department was the main speaker. Among the suggestions Captain Casias had was to post a Crime Watch sign prominently at the Ranch Entrance. He presented informational handouts to those in attendance and copies of this information will be posted on the Santa Fe Trail Ranch web site. In addition, the Emergency Services Committee will have a table at the Santa Fe Trail Ranch picnic to share information on Crime Watch as well as other emergency services information.
Another key task for the Emergency Services Committee will be to work with the County as they update the 911 program as part of correcting the addressing problems here on the Ranch.
