Women's Group Meeting
May 1, 2010
Those attending included Linda Austin, Sharon Beaver, Denisa Derrick, Sue Downs, Barbara Krause, Francie Purswell-Montoya, June Stephens, and Barb Wurfel. Sending regrets were Mary Ghormley and Kim Pronovich.
Prior to the beginning of the business meeting, Francie informed the group that there is a new church forming in Trinidad. It's called New Hope Ministries and it will be sponsoring a food ministry for the community. She asked that any who wish to support such a ministry to bring nonperishable food to the meetings. She and Barb Krause will see to it that the food will get to the right place. Francie also reminded everyone that Angel Eyes Lobster Fest orders are due soon and orders will be delivered to her office.
June informed the group that there will be an Arts & Crafts Show and an Old Time Car Show in Raton on May 22, 2010.
Items discussed included:
- Barb Wurfel has submitted the logo-wear order and is waiting for price quotes. She estimates that the total cost will be between $1600 and $1800. The consensus was that Barb should finalize the order regardless of the cost. The sale prices per item will be decided upon at the June meeting.
- Michelle Blake will be asked to re-do the logo-wear sign. Sue Spanner has volunteered to provide a logo-wear display.
- It is noted that although logo wear is typically sold at the picnic and the annual meeting, it is always available on the ranch's website. Just link to Women's Group.
- In order for the picnic to be a success, the Women's Group will need help from others. Mary Ghormley will coordinate information with Pat Roehl so that all can be properly informed about the picnic plans. To improve the efficacy of the planning, FRANCIE AND SUE WILL BE THE CONTACT PERSONS FOR ALL WHO WISH TO VOLUNTEER..
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
- PICNIC AREA PREPARATION
(To date we have commitments from Michelle Blake, Sue Downs, Deb Roberts, Kim Pronovich and Nancy Scott.) Bob Krause will be asked to mow the area several days in advance of the picnic.
- SET UP THE MORNING OF THE PICNIC--to begin at 8:30 a.m.
We will need 8-10 people at the minimum. We will need MEN to help set up the tents, tables, and grills. Chuck and Linda Austin will again lend their large tent to cover the food tables. Chuck has volunteered to supervise the setting up of this huge tent but he needs 8-10 men to help--more if the day is windy.
- PARKING DIRECTORS
(Volunteer!)
- CLEAN UP AFTER THE PICNIC
(To date we have no commitments here. PLEASE volunteer!)
- LOGO-WEAR SALES TABLE DURING THE PICNIC
Sylvia Crisler, Sue, Denisa, Francie, Deb Roberts, and Barb Wurfel will handle sales.
- Numerous "details" about supplies on hand or available for the picnic were shared. Sue will pick up the tents and water cooler now being stored by Doris Norad. June reported that she and Tom have purchased two new tables and that the tables in the guard house are in good shape Francie and Mary Ghormley have plenty of plastic tableware, cups, and trash can liners. Francie has foil and plastic wrap and several plastic table coverings. Others will be bringing tablecloths. We will need to provide paper plates for our out-of-towners.
- We will provide hand cleaner at the head of the food tables and near the toilet facilities, which Francie will order.
- Sharon will bring a first aid kit and ice--in case of insect stings.
- Lynn Parker, June, and Sharon will organize the food purchases and food tables.
- Mary Ghormley will be preparing the flyers for the bulletin board and the website. She will be sure that everyone knows that anyone except those coming from out of town/state should bring his/her own table service. In addition, LETTUCE AND TOMATOES WILL NOT BE PROVIDED FOR THE BURGERS. The flyers will make it clear that people need to RSVP by July 1, 2010 to June Stephens (845-8111 or ositocanon@mindspring.com) or Barb Wurfel (846-8773 or barbwurfel@yahoo.com ). The flyer should also indicate that people should look for signs to direct them to the picnic.
- June will have signs at the guard house and at Gallinas Pkwy.
- Francie reported that Will Dudley is a "go" for the entertainment.
- Sue will order more maps of the ranch--10 laminated and 10 not laminated.
- Sue will also be sure that welcome packets are delivered to the Coopets and the Lamberts.
THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE ON JUNE 12, 2010 AT THE HOME OF SUE DOWNS.
